Christmas in our Stake - Sullivans

From the time I was a small child, Christmas always felt magical! A Candle lit Christmas tree, German Christmas music and carols, and of course our biggest tradition of Advent!

The 4 Sundays leading up to Christmas, each Sunday evening my parents would gather us together in the living room with hot chocolate, tea and a beautifully laid out plate of extravagant homemade cookies. We would listen to Christmas music, fill our house with singing of Christmas carols, some silly and some more Christ centered, and of course read beloved Christmas stories.

These Christmas stories were my favourite. The beautiful heartfelt messages of peace, forgiveness, selflessness and love. All sharing in the truths of the Spirit of Christmas. That Spirit which testified to my young heart of Christ’s beloved mission to draw us closer to God and to feel of His love and strength no matter our circumstances.

I feel so blessed to be able to share these beautiful traditions and my own testimony now with my own children about the beauty, love and power of our Saviour Jesus Christ, and why that beautiful humble babe born in Bethlehem is so meaningful and powerful for me.

May we all find joyful ways to look toward the Saviour and remember the true Spirit of Christmas this holiday season.
