Christmas in our Stake - Papworths

A new tradition has begun for Bob and Michelle Papworth!

We have been to Calgary twice during the Christmas season. This is our second year at the Light The World-Giving Machine in Calgary. Jesus Christ is the Light of the World! The giant red vending machine is located in the South Centre Mall. You use a credit card and like a vending machine you select the item you want to purchase. One whole line of items is for international gift-giving like water pumps, clean water or chickens etc. All the other rows reflect local societies and charities operating in the Calgary area. A volunteer helps the person as they operate the machine. Another volunteer hands them a card indicating the donation that was made. The card can be given as a ‘present’ to a loved one. If you have helped by buying chickens the card will show two bright yellow chicks. The church will email you a tax receipt and covers the cost of the credit card transaction if requested at the time of donation. One hundred percent of the funds go directly to the charities.
